Undercoating & Rust Protection for Toyota Tacoma in the Rio Grande Valley
The most accessorized midsize truck in the country.
Fitting your Toyota Tacoma
The Tacoma is the single most accessorized truck we see. It comes with a 5-foot or 6-foot bed, and the 2024 redesign changed the bed and front end, so accessories are generation-specific (2nd gen 2005–2015, 3rd gen 2016–2023, 4th gen 2024+). The TRD Pro and Trailhunter are factory-lifted. Overland builds — rack, tonneau, lighting, suspension — are the norm.
What fits your Toyota Tacoma
- 5 ft and 6 ft beds take the full midsize cap, tonneau, and liner range
- Overland builds: bed rack plus tonneau, lighting, and suspension together
- Leveling kits through 3-inch lifts, with 4th gen needing its own geometry
- The 2024 redesign is a different fitment from the 2016–2023 truck
What we check before ordering
-
Three generations (2005–2015, 2016–2023, 2024+) take different parts
-
The 2024+ bed is different from the 3rd gen, so caps and tonneaus do not swap
-
TRD Pro and Trailhunter are factory-lifted, so standard clearance parts may not fit
Toyota Tacoma fitment questions
Do 2024 Tacoma parts fit a 2016–2023 truck?
No. The 2024 redesign changed the bed and front end, so caps, tonneaus, and bull bars are generation-specific. We confirm your year first.
What is the most common Tacoma build you do?
Overland: a bed rack with a tonneau cover underneath, LED lighting, a leveling kit or 2 to 3-inch lift, and all-terrain tires. It is the single most requested build we get.
Will standard parts fit a Tacoma TRD Pro?
Not always. The TRD Pro and Trailhunter are factory-lifted, so clearance parts for bumpers and racks often need to be trim-specific.
About undercoating & rust protection
Rust is the slow killer of trucks in the Rio Grande Valley, and Brownsville has it worst. Salt air off the Gulf attacks the frame, rocker panels, brake lines, and every exposed fastener long before the body shows it. Undercoating is the cheapest insurance you can buy against it — a few hundred dollars now instead of a frame that is unsafe in ten years.
What it costs on a Toyota Tacoma
- Entry
- $200–$500 (oil or wax coating, single application)
- Mid
- $500–$1,000 (full undercarriage plus frame rails and seams)
- Premium
- $1,000–$2,000 (rubberized or epoxy system, wheel wells, rockers, touch-up schedule)
Final price depends on your Toyota Tacoma year, cab, and bed. We quote up front.
